Center Director Takes Stand On Arming Campus Police

As some of you may know there is a renewed effort to arm the URI Campus Police.
URI is one of only a few universities nation-wide whose campus police are unarmed. A Campus Security Commission has been formed to review the current practices and make recommendations regarding whether or not campus police should be armed.
The Interim-Director of the Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies has weighed in with a letter to the commission. You are welcome to read it at our homepage
Contact nonviolence@etal.uri.edu if you too want to take stand against arming campus police.
